Anybody that has moved before, I’m sure has uttered these very same words, “I am never moving again!”. As I speak those words, I truly hope that is the case for us. The property we are now blessed to live on is something right out of a fairytale, our fairytale at least. Down to some of the smallest details/desires of our hearts, our home carries it or at least has the potential to mold it that way. Minus some unpacking, settling, serious painting, and still waking up not knowing where I am(!), it feels like home. And saying that makes me warm from head to toe. Home.
That said, it’s been an overwhelming as we are trying to take it all in, piece by piece. We are exploring new areas, new plants, new responsibilities/tasks, new possibilities every. single. day. I love that my kids do not ask to watch t.v. 15 times a day because they are so busy with things to look at and do outside! They still ask, mind you, but not nearly as often as even one month ago.
As we take it all in, I’m also making lists of what needs to be done slash “what I’d like done”. We don’t plan on ever moving again, so the lists have no deadlines (minus cutting the 5 acres of grass!) and it’s fun to dream open-ended, knowing we can slowly pick away at the list as there is time for it. That said, we have started picking away at the greenhouse and I was determined to paint a few walls before the BIG 30th birthday bash my husband organized for me last week <insert big grin>. But other paint and home projects aren’t on any deadlines and that is a settling enough thought in itself.
Here are a few glimpses of what life has looked like in our new space these past 3 weeks …
There will be no lack of pictures coming your way (including some before and after pictures of inside as we go!), but for right now, I’m going to take my coffee, sit on the porch, and enjoy the live view at home. Home.
