PINPINPINPINPINPINPINPINHe is here.  He is finally here!  Our sweet baby boy, Israel Rhodes, joined us on this side October 12, 2015 at 2:37am – healthy, happy and ready to take on the world.  His calm countenance and easy going attributes have helped make the transition (for all of us) quite smooth sailing and I couldn’t be more in love.  With the smoothest cheeks for kissing, the tiniest of cries and gurgles, and a most beautiful face for staring at … I’m a goner for sure!

Again, in choosing a name, we were looking not only for a name we liked the sound of but also a name that would carry significant meaning.  As shared here about overcoming some fears during his pregnancy, we really felt strongly that our little baby would carry the name/purpose of bringing light, revelation wherever he would go and would be a conqueror of all that is in his path.  We thought his names suited that quite well …

ISRAEL: he who prevails with God

RHODES: a clearing in the woods

Israel, you don’t know how happy we are that you are now starting your life on the “outside”.  Your papa, big brothers, and me could not be more over-joyed as we think of the purpose and life you will bring to this world.  We love you so much already.

sarah nadine - thanks so much, Calista! well, you could always come visit … it’d be nice to meet your posse as well ☺️ at first, i was worried that the swaddle blanket would look to feminine. but after our first times using it with Hunter, i didn’t even think twice about it because i liked it too much for it to matter if it was more feminine or masculine! i actually really wish that they would make an adult sized one for my bed … !! xoReplyCancel

PINGood bye white pants (it is after labor day, ya know!) … hello cozy knits!  After the coolness of this weekend, I certainly feel that autumn is here, fully.  On instagram, I saw lots of people south of us “embracing” the last bits of summer in their friends pools, at the ocean, at the lake, or just bbq-ing in their backyard.  Meanwhile, it’s been chilly, rainy and cozy-up kind of weather feelings up here.  I’ll still be hanging onto the hope for that indian summer to present itself (as it normally does)!

This week, Matt and I have labelled “closing of commitments” week, whereas last week was our “finishing off projects” week.  After Sunday, I don’t have anything pressing on the calendar, minus our daily rhythm things, except welcoming this babe into our arms.  I am sooooo looking forward to the slower pace and the “embracing” of all that fall has to bring.  Besides our commitments, here are some other things we hope to do … View full post »

Calista - It has been in the 90s for us this week. It’s warm, or at least, we think it’s warm. We are kind of weather weanies though 🙂 It looks like you’re enjoying life and I am so excited to see your house revamp!ReplyCancel

Like I mentioned previously, nesting is in full force over here and I’ve been list-making like crazy to figure out what is 1. absolutely necessary to get done and 2. what is priority to get done to our house before baby arrives.  I’ve already started on a few projects and am not sure if my energy will sustain the register of other projects I want to tackle!  I plan to (once again) keep the baby room simple and minimal, but still have a few personal touches I have yet to add.  Our backyard is still under “renovation” since we built the shop and the boys’ room is something that will be ongoing but I’d like to have more continuity to…and seriously, the list goes on < sarah gives her big eyes face >.

Though these pictures are not all pertaining to the projects on hand, they are mega-inspiring … and oh, mint and white.PIN

PINEssential oils have definitely taken root as a part of everyday, over here.  Though there are so many different things to do with oils, here’s a small round up of a few DIYs I’d like to try/have tried with me precious oily oils.

. a (kids-made) spicy scented ornament

. homemade vapor rub

. a bit messy, but my skin always feels so soft after this easy to make scrub

. i love all of these face mists (and their labels!).  perfect gifts and bedside go-tos

. make your own first aid kit

. some epic beard oil for my man
